3.00 reasons to hate this

The Wednesday Rant Series

Hey there,

Before I talk numbers, I’m excited to share I’ll be speaking as part of the Alchemie Spotlight series about my brand new Procurement Soft Skills Mastery program*

*Enrolment for my ground breaking program is currently closed as we are in the founders round. The enrolment window will reopen in August for a limited time (spots will be limited too as I work closely with my cohort).

If you want to be put on the waitlist to find out more about this course just click the waitlist link at the end of this e-mail.

We’ll discuss my career, my contribution to Procurement as a function and the benefits Procurement Soft Skills Mastery can bring to you and your career.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of these essential components and how they can elevate your performance in Procurement.

This episode will be broadcast LIVE in the Personal Development space on The Alchemie Network.

You’ll see the events announced and when broadcasting live, the famous Alchemie LIVE ICON will appear for you to join.

If you’re not already a member, you can join for free via the website:

or download the app (ios and android).

So, there’s precisely 3.00 reasons we shouldn’t be doing this.

  1. It’s disingenuous.

We all see what you’re doing…adding your extra noughts to make this look like a big salary.

It’s not a big salary. It’s a distinctly average, frankly underpaid range for a job in Torquay.

In the words of Shania Twain “That don’t impress (er) me much”

  1. It’s irrelevant

I pulled up a member of my team for it last week when they were reporting their savings (yes I’m a tough guy to work for).

The savings calculation they gave me was…

£54,373.22

I honestly couldn’t give a monkey’s about the 22p.

Spend it on a packet of polos if you like*

*P.S. the last time a packet of polos was 22p in the UK was 1989 when I was relatively young.

My best Linkedin post of the week:

  1. It’s confusing on a spreadsheet

Those who know me well will know I’m a man of little patience.

I like to view things at a glance.

If you send me a spreadsheet with all the decimal places, how’s that going to help my already confused mind?

And guess what…hide the decimal places in excel and it all still adds up the same (Excel is clever like that!)

So…stop it, please.

Treat numbers with respect and understand the true value of what you’re trying to present.

If you want to recover the 22p in an invoice, go for it.

But if you feel that’s important for me to know, you’re wasting my time.

Right…I’m off for another lie down.
