Procurement Soft Skills Mastery - My New Program!
So, a decade ago and then again in 2021, I used the exact strategies I plan to teach in my new program Procurement Soft Skills Mastery (starting 9th May 2024) to deliver Procurement transformation in two completely different businesses.
In both instances I was tasked with transforming a Procurement team that was merely skirting around the edges of the organisation. They were:
failing to deliver any value the business cared about
unable to forge good stakeholder relationships
deeply entrenched in old-school tactics
displaying low application of emotional intelligence.
I came to realise that my success in driving Procurement transformation relied less on ‘what I knew’ and more on ‘how I communicated that knowledge effectively’. This transformation not only advanced my professional standing but bolstered my personal confidence.
Today, I feel equipped to tackle any Procurement role with confidence, even if I don’t perfectly match the job criteria.
Why? Because I’ve cultivated the soft skills – the self-awareness and emotional intelligence – needed to foster top-tier engagement and deliver game changing Procurement outcomes across any organisation.
And with the tested systems I developed I was able to thrive in work, enjoy Procurement, deliver massive transformation, hit bonus targets for 10 consecutive years, achieve several promotions and an Employee of the Year award to boot!
And I managed to do this without any of the stress I used to feel around Procurement.
Here’s some examples of how:
1. My V.P.N. method to deliver fun and successful negotiations
(Vison, Planning & Numbers)
I developed this to plan and deliver effective supplier negotiation, which instead of feeling fraught, fractured or stressful, became brilliant and collaborative conversations where the results always exceeded what my business felt would be possible.
2. My M.A.S.T. method to deal with non compliance effectively and without stress
(Measure, Ask, Solve, Transition)
For dealing with maverick spend, non-compliance and instances of dark purchasing. This method not only ensured I could deal with the most important risks in the business fast, it also helped me move forward quickly to where I would deliver the most value, without getting embroiled in internal conflict or politics.
3. My T.E.A.C.H. method deliver game changing stakeholder engagement and build successful long-term relationships.
(Talk, Evaluate, Assess, Create, Help)
This is a favourite for teams I’ve coached as without doubt the plaudits I gain within any business I work for are for building the best relationships and become known well for positive impact as well as been well known.
There’s a huge difference and once you’ve discovered this, you’re well on your way to being an industry leading Procurement Pro.
These are just a flavour of some of the exact approaches I plan to cover in depth in my new pilot program, where I'll personally help you achieve Procurement Soft Skills Mastery.
We’re starting on 9th May (*I’m closing enrolment on Friday 3rd May) and I’m limiting this to just 20 spots. Any interest in learning more or joining us?
If yes, hit reply and say “I’m interested” (or tell me more) and I’ll send over the details.
Looking forward to it,
Tom
